KouriChat iMessages frequently asked questions

Q: Why can't I send iMessage to hi@kouri.chat?

Make sure you have at least one phone number or email address selected as your iMessage contact method in Settings → Messages → Send & Receive.

We recommend using an email address as your iMessage sending and receiving address.

Q: Why isn't KouriChat responding?

Possible reasons:

  1. Model response timeout - Just retry, the AI will remember previously unresponded messages
  2. International SMS not enabled - iMessage activation requires international SMS capability, contact your carrier to enable
  3. Not in contacts - Add the KouriChat address to your contacts
  4. Sending address issue - Try a different iMessage sending address

You can also try these steps:

  1. Delete the KouriChat conversation and re-add it
  2. Delete the KouriChat contact info and re-add it (don't click "Delete and Block")
  3. Restart the Messages app

Q: I've tried everything but still can't receive iMessages

Try:

  1. Turn off iMessage
  2. Turn off FaceTime
  3. Turn off WiFi
  4. Reset network settings
  5. Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on

This may take up to 24 hours.

Q: Will using KouriChat iMessage cost extra?

The iMessage service itself is completely free. Your only cost is the tokens consumed by your Kouri API Key. We're continuously optimizing algorithms to deliver the best experience with minimal resources.

Q: My AI keeps sending repeated messages

This may be caused by using models with high hallucination rates that output many newline characters (like glm-4.6). Switching to a different model will solve this, but you'll need to wait for the current output to complete before it takes effect.

Q: Is my privacy and data secure?

Your privacy is always safe on the KouriChat side:

  • Private characters are encrypted with security codes
  • Character info and security codes are stored in encrypted form
  • All iMessage interactions use end-to-end encryption

We recommend not using APIs from unknown sources in any software. Untrustworthy API providers may leak and log all your request data.

Q: I think I upset the AI and it won't respond. What do I do?

The block feature may have been triggered.

Solution: Send /web → Go to Console → Personalization → Disable "Auto-Block"

Q: The message window is too short and I can't finish my input

You can modify the "Reply Wait Time" parameters in "Personalization → Reply Wait Time" to give yourself more time to input more messages. Default is to start requesting the AI model if no new messages are received within 14 seconds.

Q: How can I help the AI remember information about me?

Send /web → Go to Console → Memory & World Book → Add World Book

Here you can tell the AI your nickname, preferences, or any background information.

Q: I updated my character in Character Archive. How do I sync it in iMessage?

Send /web → Go to Console → Character Management → Update the corresponding character card

Q: Why doesn't the AI character use paragraph breaks?

Your character settings may have something about "use \ for line breaks". KouriChat has built-in paragraph handling, so please don't describe paragraph formatting in your character settings.

Q: Why is it outputting chain of thought?

Your character settings may have phrases like "no FunctionCalling" or "no chain of thought output". We recommend removing these.

This is a built-in Gemini bug that occurs even when connecting directly to Google. The API side has tried to mitigate this.

You can send /web → Go to Context Management → Delete problematic conversations from history.

Regenerate Response

Q: I'm not satisfied with the AI's response. What can I do?

Send the /roll command to regenerate the AI's response for the current round.

Prepaid Quota Failed

Q: What if prepaid quota fails?
